The marriage of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands was a tiara event and the bride wore a low cut dress with short sleeves in the church. That wedding was early in the day so i guess the Scandinavians kept up with their tradition whereas other parts of Europe have given up the formal wear for a simpler outfit.
I very much prefer the Scandinavian version and hope it will win in popularity in other countries as well.
