I know of a couple of plays that have been canceled because of their content. One of which I was in on the meeting as to cancel it or not. The main reason they decided to change plays was that they were afraid the content would make people think of the events on 9-11 and not follow the play. The other reasons were basicly along the lines of what you were talking about. They wanted to give people something they could enjoy. Theater can be a very good distraction from reality. I'm glad you had a chance to be part of something like that.
