I think people referring to him as a "drug cheat" are some way off the mark. Crystal meth is a recreational drug and not a PED; there's a big difference between taking that and, say, anabolic steroids. Any sustained use of crystal meth is likely to finish off someone's career, not bring it back to the heights.
I find it a very odd thing to do to come out with it now and announce it to the world, but it does show that there are major problems with drug testing in sport. We've already had the Rusedski case with nandrolone in which Rusedski was acquitted, but the ATP did not even proffer charges against Agassi, instead just believing his statement. I find it hard to see how that could happen: there ought to have been, even back then, clear procedures that should have been followed.
