I remember a debate we had here only about three or four years ago about the future of British women tennis players and the view then was that British women always got stuck just outside the top 100. The general view seemed to be that it would be at least 10 years before we had another top 100 player.
Since then Anne Keothavong has broken into the top 50.
Mel South has broken into the top 100.
Laura Robson has won a Junior Grand Slam at Wimbledon
Heather Watson has won a Junior Grand Slam in USA.
I thought the British women were improving but I am amazed at how quickly they have turned things around.
We should soon have a pretty good Federation Cup squad.
We now need the GB men to make similar progress to give Andy support in the Davis Cup.
