I dunno though, you say he played too passive but I think sometimes people misinterpret it due his style of play. Murray was never going to outpower Roddick, he uses various different types of spins and angles to beat the opponent, that's why he's so good. He even hit more winners than Roddick and made some far more impressive shots. There were times in the match where he should have stepped it p but was unable to due to Roddick's serve. It's of my opinion that if Murray served anywhere near as well as Roddick did he would have run out a comfortable winner. But well done to Roddick, he played well but I'm afraid he's going to be overwhelmed by Federer in the final.
