Anne Keothavong leapt 22 places to a new career high of 104 after winning the $50K+H in Lebanon. This is highest a British girl has achieved for 9 years. Mel South reached the SF of the $50K in Fukuoka but because of the large gap in that part of the table her ranking remained unchanged. For the second week running Amanda Elliott managed to win a round in a WTA qualifier, this time in Zagreb. Georgie Stoop moved back up the table after reaching the QF of the $25K in Gimcheon. Yasmin Clarke continued her rapid climb up the rankings after reaching the SF of the $10K in Bournemouth. Jennifer Ren collected her third ranking event and earned a senior ranking after winning a R1 match in Bounemouth.

Greatest percentage improvements in rankings since the end of last tennis year. Moves from 1001 to 501 or 201 to 101 would both count as 50% improvements. The numbers in the table give the percentage rise, the ranking at the end of last year, the latest ranking and the actual rise since the end of last year. Newcomers Jocelyn Rae, Stephanie Cornish, Amy Sargeant and Jennifer Ren have been given a nominal ranking of 1100 at the end of last year so they can be included in the improvements table.
