Posted by Javier I had the same problem with a Asus P4s533. First of all, this motherboard uses a SiS chipset, so don't install an intel driver (windows shouldn't let you anyway...) since the chipsets are diferent!. I got rid of the problem installing Sis AGP WHQL Drivers for Windows driver downloaded from asus web. In MY case this is the web page for MY motherboard: http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=p4s533-e My recommendation is search for YOUR motherboard drivers and install them. I think this solution worked in my case due to the fact that Sis AGP driver may come with the smbus controller driver alltogether. In intel case, the driver is stored separately and therefore there is a separate download for it. Hope that helps.

According to the Wikipedia: The System Management Bus (abbreviated to SMBus or SMB) is a simple two-wire bus used for communication with low-bandwidth devices on a motherboard, especially power related chips such as a laptop's rechargeable battery subsystem. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMBus)
