80.0.87.4
I am planning to upgrade my system's motherboard, cpu and ram to support the recent developments of hyperthreading, 800 fsb, USB 2, firewire built in and dual channel 400 ddr memory.
The motherboards I see also have things like a raid controller and a serial ata controller, but I am not sure about these features.
I currently use a c drive and a dvd cd rw drive on my primary controller and two separate video drives on the secondary controller.
I don't want raid, and I am concerned that the new hard drive interfaces might be more problematic with video editing hardware and software since they are new technology. I use Premiere 6.5 and Avid XpressDV 3.5 with Windows XP, but hope to upgrade to both Premiere and Avid pro versions soon, which I hear can take advantage of faster systems.
Will I be able to use all my current drives in the way I am using them now, or will I lose performance or be limited in some way unless I upgrade the hard drives as well?
I am thinking of a board like the Asus P4P800 Deluxe.
Thanks a lot for any advice.
