No. That's tribalism, provincialism, etc. Those instincts may creep in among religious people, but it is ubiquitous to humans, not the result of religion. 2) Coulter makes her living by selling books, and being controversial. But to say that she is dangerous is to go too far. I recently read a commentary by a liberal who defends Coulter's rights to speak out, but who says that it is liberals who "feed" Coulter by overreacting to what she says. If instead, liberals came out with some degree of moderation, they would defuse her rhetoric. For example, as a liberal editorialist, I might have written something like this: While Coulter is right to promote the religion in which she believes, her tone and tenor are more conducive to conflict than to understanding. We understand her desire that she wishes more people believe as she does. Indeed, we wish more people were liberal, pro-choice, and in favor of same-sex marriage. Those ideas may be controversial, but they need not be expressed in an inflammatory manner. Coulter will be well advised to frame her positions with more concern for communication than for controversy. Something like that, instead of, SHE WANTS TO WIPE ISRAEL OFF THE MAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
