Posted by Lee Russ Odd that America became the preeminent power in the world--economic and military--at a time when it had a top marginal income tax rate that you consider Communistic, a healthy labor movement, minimum wage laws, maximum hour work laws, laws guaranteeing the right to organize and bargain over labor, and on and on. Compared to the 19th century, that pinnacle of unregulated markets, when people were largely poor, miserable, unhealthy, and tending to vote for Socialists as a result.
