The actions and words or intolerant people and their leaders, especially when those words reek of creating a theocracy (which is exactly the case we have here now), are more than a threat of theocracy from the Christian right. What do you think it means when they say with one side of their mouth that they want religious tolerance, public displays of religion, and the Bible in public schools and from the other side of their mouth display contempt and intolerance to any other form of religion? I am not blind to the meaning behind these things. "The threat is from the left, which views hate speech as anything that they do not like. Wherever leftists hold the most power, it is there that you will find the most restrictions on free speech. It is on leftist universtities that you find book burnings, theft of student newspapers, "speech codes," restricted speech "zones," speakers being assaulted on stage, professors being threatened careerwise for refusing to toe the leftist line, and the examples are a regular occurrence." I haven't seen anything of the like in my entire career as a student at any of the many campuses I attended and visited on a regular basis. There was never a book burning at any of those campuses. There was never theft of a student newspaper. There were never unreasonable restrictions on where speakers were allowed. There were never speakers assaulted on stage no matter their views. And there were never any professors threatened for voicing their opinions. "You somehow failed to mention that." This discussion was not about any of that. It was about the Christian right attempting to form a theocracy. The actions and words of their leadership speak almost directly of creating just such a government. Besides, my personal experiences speak directly against all the things you mentioned, even though I keep my eyes and ears open for those kinds of threats to freedom as well. Of course, much like in chess, it is easier to attack than to defend, so instead of actually defending your position, which my example showed to be utter bullshit, you naturally jump to attacking the threat not even mentioned, one which I also despise. I wouldn't expect less from you by now. Always villianizing the liberals while the conservative religious right gets a free pass. You and your blind partisan views make me sick.

"The actions of a few intolerant people do nothing to change the fact that there is no threat of theocracy, and never has been, from the Christian right."
