The actions of a few intolerant people do nothing to change the fact that there is no threat of theocracy, and never has been, from the Christian right. The threat is from the left, which views hate speech as anything that they do not like. Wherever leftists hold the most power, it is there that you will find the most restrictions on free speech. It is on leftist universtities that you find book burnings, theft of student newspapers, "speech codes," restricted speech "zones," speakers being assaulted on stage, professors being threatened careerwise for refusing to toe the leftist line, and the examples are a regular occurrence. You somehow failed to mention that. Take away the power of leftists, and what you have remaining is the First Amendment.

I showed you where. In the USA for over 100 years, when religion was not considered in the same classification as pornography, hate speech, and uncleanness. In all those years, there was no theocracy, and no effort to create one.
