Posted by Bob on 8/12/2007, 10:05 am, in reply to "Columnist: To save America, we need another 9/11" Let's face it, if the people who are in Congress now had been in Congress in 1942, we'd be speaking in German or Japanese. At a moment when we should be united in our war against barbarism, there are too many people playing politics. There are way too many people who think that we could appease the terrorists, if only we would just try to "understand" them. Whenever we target a terrorist, and if innocent bystanders are killed, then we are vilified as if we had attacked the bystanders deliberately. Yet, when the terrorists do precisely that, time after time, murdering children in schoolyards, people in voting lines, missionaries on humanitarian visits, then the critics of America fall strangely silent. Oh, we mustn't offend the terrorists, must we. I have little doubt that Pelosi and company would very much like to defeat the terrorists once and for all, by any means available. But the problem is, they only wish to do it if they, not Bush, get credit, and only if the Euro-socialists do not cry foul. If there were the same political will to crush the terrorists as there was to crush Hitler and Tojo, we could do it. It would be ugly, bloody and ghastly, but it would be done and over with, and millions of Arabs would be better off. Instead, we play games with peoples' lives.

I had already read this article, and I do not believe that the author in any way WISHES another horror to be visited upon us. I think that he decries that this is historically what has happened before, and he believes that history will repeat itself.
