Posted by Bob on 8/8/2007, 5:10 am, in reply to "Re: Bad News From Iraq" I'm not accusing the Dems of treason, just of having hitched their wagon to the wrong horse. To me, the question is not whether we should be fighting terrorists, but rather, how we can best defeat them. Iraq, being in the heart of Islamdom, should be democratized if possible. That would be a major blow to the tyrannical system that breeds angry people willing to strap bombs to themselves and their own children. Perhaps that blow will turn out not to be possible, and perhaps our involvement there will in the end turn out to be a mistake. But while I do not call the Democrats the "cut and run" party, neither do I subscribe to the mindless slogan "Bush lied, people died." Like it or not, we are at war, our nation is under attack, and we will be hit again, even harder than before. This is not the time for political posturing. Sadly, the only way we can win this thing is to keep killing as many terrorists as possible, while at the same time, offering a better life to those who will accept peace. If we do not win, the ultimate consequences will be unthinkable.

Actually, much of what you said is reasonable.
