In the view of most people who understand anything about Iraq, yes. Those bad, bad Dems. How dare they believe that Iraq is a disaster. Becuse in the end result, that's all your theory comes down to. The Dems have finally--after far too long a period of fence-sitting--decided that Iraq is a disaster. That naturally ties their electoral lives to that poition. That's all. No treason, no nefarious behind the scene attempt to engineer a defeat.

I'm not surprised that's your view. You have a real talent for seeing everything in political terms, while decrying everything being political. Is the state of Iraq in late 2008 going to have an impact on the election? certainly.
