In short, some want to keep transsexuality listed as a "disorder," not a "disease," as you incorrectly stated. The reasoning is to require insurance to cover gender identity therapy, hormones and SRS and, yes, to sue when insurance refuses to cover these medically-necessary treatments. Others want to remove the "disorder" designation and make SRS available 'on demand.' However, SRS alone can be expensive and many trans people don't have the resources to pay for it. Just as homosexuality should be taught as a normal variation of human sexuality, transsexuality should be taught not as an 'abnormality,' but as a medical condition.
