Posted by Lee Russ on 7/31/2007, 7:18 am, in reply to "Re: Correcting the Record on Valerie Plame" I posted the original piece in response to your totally unsupported insistence that Plame was not covert, undercover, or the like. Are you now at least done pushing the right wing taking point that Plame was not undercover? And didn't you get the idea she was not undercover from our right wing web site buddies? Your very claim that failing to prosecute under the poorly written criminal statute means nothing bad happened is another talking point pushed by the right wing propagandists. It is nonsense. First of all, the term "covert" may not have the same definition under this bizarrely bad statute as it does within the intelligence community. And, of course, the statute is not the definition of what's wrong, only what's criminal. And there are many reasons not to prosecute under it even if you think the statute was violated, namely lack of evidence because all the evidence is in the hands of the criminals and they are lying their butts off. I'm pretty sure that's why Fitzgerald is so pissed at Libby. Your belief that Plame acted recklessly is based on what? Nothing but your theorizing in your living room, having already had the idea put in your head by all the right wing sites you live on. And they got the idea from the White House, which distributed talking points to them. There is nothing odd about Wilson being chosen to go. Nothing. He had experience and contacts in the area, and was a well known civil servant. The fact that Plame was his wife was part of the Wilson Who's Who entry because you try to make a cover story track your real life as closely as possible--it minimizes the chances of slip-ups. There is nothing odd at all in Wilson agreeing to go, and at the time he went he had no reason to believe that he would ever need to goo public with criticism of the White House. To anticipate that he would have had to anticipate that Bush would lie in his public speeches about the very subject Wilson was investigating. "It is almost inconceivable, given the aptitude and resources of Cheney, that he knowingly and wilfully outed an active CIA agent." And we've had this exact exchange several times. You believe what you believe. But don't try to tell me that your belief is based on the facts.

Sure, I'll stop seeing right wing propaganda everywhere as soon as they, and you, stop spreading it everywhere.
So Cheney gets all benefit of th doubt, and Plame gets all doubt. Enough said, huh?
