Couple that with the extreme distances between stars and the vast amount of stars in our galaxy alone, and it would take aeons for any intelligent life to visit here. Quite frankly, there is just no knowing right now.

Or, we could be semi-reasonable and take a look at our own capabilities. We have not managed to even get out of our solar system yet. It is also very probable that extra-terrestrial intelligence is developing along similar lines and rates as our own intelligence, thus meaning that there would presently be very few intelligent beings in the universe capable of inter-stellar travel.
