Religion" If you ask any trans person if they were more functional after transition and surgery you will almost universally get a resounding "yes!" Hiding behind a facade of being a gender they do not feel inside is a constant struggle (I should know) and can lead to dysfunction, depression, even suicide. Claiming someone is "outrageously immoral" is a judgment and certainly does not describe a transsexual. An serial killer perhaps, but not a transsexual.
