
Posted by Rockford Speedway on 10/31/2005, 11:38 am Saturday, October 29, 2005 (Loves Park, IL) - Ricky Bilderback capped off a great Ryan Carlson grabbed the early lead in the 100-lap feature event. Ricky The first caution flew on lap 19 when Greg Niehouse spun coming out of turn four. Carlson continued to lead while Leicht was challenging Bilderback for second. Carlson stayed out front at the halfway mark with Bilderback and Leicht in tow. Bilderback pulled away from Carlson on the re-start but that only lasted a lap as Bilderback led the field back to the green flag and started to pull away from With 25 laps to go, Bilderback pulled away to a six-car length lead over Carlson. Bilderback would hold off Carlson through two more caution flags to go on to Stephen Leicht captured the 2005 ASA Late Model Series Championship. The 59th season of racing at the Rockford Speedway will start on April 1-2, 2006 ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts

BILDERBACK CAPTURES NSTC ASA LATE MODEL SERIES 100

2005 season at the Rockford Speedway by capturing the ASA Late Model Series 100
during at the 40th Annual National Short Track Championships presented by Chicago
International Truck.
Bilderback quickly took the second spot away from pole sitter Stephen Leicht.
Carlson continued to hold back Bilderback until the second caution flew on lap
33 when Keeton Hanks spun coming off of turn two.
The third caution flew on lap 44 when Doug Mahlik made contact with Jason Tyler
going down the backstretch and spun to the infield. He collected Brent Downey
who ended up on the top of Mahlik's hood. Both drivers were able to walk away.
Bilderback got on the inside of Carlson and took over the top spot on lap 63.
The caution flew a lap later when Landon Cassill spun coming out of the fourth
turn. Leicht hit the brakes in turn three and four and was hit from behind by
Tom Gille causing a chain reaction wreck that also involved Jason Tyler and Nick
Hammer. Leicht also hit the outside wall and had serious right front suspension
damage.
Jesse Saunders and Kris Stump both spun in turns three and four.
Carlson when the caution flew again on lap 67 for JD Leonard spun in turns one
and two. On the re-start Bilderback and Carlson pulled away from third place
runner Peter Cozzolino.
The final caution flew on lap 89 when Mark Hartline spun in turn three.
capture the win. Cozzolino came home third with Chad Wood and Jesse Saunders
rounding out the top five.
