USAR Hooters Pro Cup at MIS This Friday Night by John Wells September 4, 2005 Make your plans to attend the first-ever visit by the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Series when they come to MIS on Friday night, September 9. This will also be our second annual "Tribute to America Night" sponsored by the Ford Dealers. Highlighting the racing action with be the Miller Lite 250 for the Pro Cup Northern Series. "This is the highlight of the racing schedule at MIS and is certain to be one of the best shows ever at the speedway," commented MIS promoter Steve Einhaus. "The Pro Cup drivers are very excited about coming to Madison considering the prestige this track carries as one of the top short tracks in the country," he added. Tribute to America Night will honor those who protect and serve us each day including military personnel, police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical technicians. All of the aforementioned will be admitted free with proof of active service and in uniform. Fire departments from a three county area have been invited though fire fighters from any department are welcome. A variety of events are scheduled including a visit by a Blackhawk helicopter, a climbing wall for kids, and much, much more. "Fans are in for a real treat. Two hundred fifty laps of racing action, an on-track autograph session, live pit stops, and fireworks. It's everything rolled into one," noted Einhaus. As for live pit stops, the inside front stretch wall will be moved back to its original location to allow for pitting in the infield. The Miller Lite 250 will be the final event of the 2005 USAR Pro Cup Northern Series schedule. Benny Gordon of Dubois, Pennsylvania, is the current Northern Series points leader with 1515 points. Following Gordon in the points chase are Mardy Lindley of Greenville, South Carolina, Gary St. Amant of Delaware, Ohio, Woody Howard of Chesapeake, Virginia, and rookie AJ Frank of Blufton, South Carolina. Of the top five, St. Amant is the only driver who has previously seen racing action at MIS. A Sportsman Open for Area Sportsman cars from throughout the region will also take place with $500.00 going to the winner. Thundercat Fireworks will be thrilling fans of all ages with their spectacular fireworks display. Tickets for this Friday night's races are $18.00 in advance and are available at the track office (608.835.9700), Hooters, and Club LaMark in Madison. Please Note: Rain date is Saturday, September 10. The time schedule will remain the same.
