ARE YOU READY FOR NSTC 05? By: Kevin Ramsell Tuesday, August 23, 2005 (Loves Park, IL) - Rockford Speedway officials are putting together the final plans for the 40th Annual National Short Track Championships Presented by Chicago International Truck. The 2005 event will be on September 22-25 at the Rockford Speedway. NSTC 05 will feature 15 divisions of racing over four nights of racing action with a total of 1,029 laps of feature racing alone. The CRA Super Series will return for the third straight year for a 250-lap main event on Sunday afternoon. Will defending champion Eddie Hoffman repeat or will CRA regulars like Scott Hantz, Bobby Parsley, Jeff Lane or Eddie Van Meter overthrow the reigning champ. The ASA Late Model Series will make their second appearance at NSTC 05. Last year, seven-time Rockford Speedway champion, Bobby Wilberg dominated the 100-lap feature event. Wilberg is tentatively planning to run in four different divisions at the 40th Annual event. Will he continue his dominance or will another Rockford Speedway veteran like Ryan Carlson get his breakthrough win? The Loves Park native is currently sixth in the ASA Late Model Series points after their last event in Sandusky, OH. After a successful debut at the 2004 NSTC, the Big 8 Series returns for a 58-lap feature on Friday, September 23rd. Last year, Rockford Speedway veteran Jon Reynolds dominated the event. But a physical ailment may keep him out from defending his title. But his son, Jon Reynolds Jr. already has eight feature wins at the quarter-mile facility in 2005 and could take over where his father stood a year ago. Current point leader, Mike Beyer won the 2005 Big 8 Series opener at the Speedway and currently has a 9-point lead over Tony Bagstad. The Mid-American Stock Car Series, Mid-American Trucks, Northern Late Models, Area Sportsman, Hobby Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Grand Nationals, American Short Trackers, RoadRunners, Winged Women on Wheels, Hornets and SuperCups will also be competing.
