REYNOLDS JR. TAKES HOME KAR KORNER FEATURE By: Kevin Ramsell Saturday, August 27, 2005 (Loves Park, IL) - Jon Reynolds Jr. captured his eighth weekly feature win on Kar Korner night at the Rockford Speedway. Dave Eggert, Derek Nichol also captured feature wins. The two Kar Korner NASCAR Late Models put on a great show for the fans with Jon Reynolds Jr. holding off Ryan Carlson for the win. The two started on the front row with Reynolds Jr. grabbing the early lead. Ricky Bilderback moved from his seventh starting position to challenge Jerry Gille for the third position by lap 15. Gille was able to hold off Bilderback for the position. With about 10 laps to go, Carlson made his move and got on the back bumper of Reynolds Jr. With two laps to go, Carlson made his move on the inside of Reynolds Jr. to challenge for the lead. But, Reynolds Jr. was able to hold off Carlson at the checkers. Gille came home third with Bilderback fourth. Bobby Wilberg rounded out the top five. This was Reynolds Jr. eighth weekly feature win of the season. Eggert captured his first ever American Short Tracker feature win. Eggert and Matt Berger led the field to the start of the 25-lap feature event. The two battle for the top spot until Eggert took over the top spot on lap 3. Eggert then build a huge lead over the rest of the field in the caution free event. The battle for second through sixth was the best battle of the night as the fans watched BJ Sparkman moved from his seventh starting spot all the way up to second with three laps to go. But Eggert's lead was too big for Sparkman to catch him. Berger came home third with George Sparkman finishing fourth with Dave Wagner rounding out the top five. Nichol grabbed his second feature win in the Coca-Cola RoadRunner division. Kris Nilson took the early lead in the 20-lap event. Nichol moved from his fourth starting position to challenge for the top spot on lap 5. Nichol got on the inside of Nilson and took over the top spot. Gene Marocco moved from his tenth starting position to challenge Pat Smith for second with five laps to go. Marocco was able to get by Smith but came up short in trying to catch Nichol at the checkers. Smith held on for third with Dave Lignell fourth. Chad Smith rounded out the top five. Charlie Costello won the 14-Bus School Bus Slammin' Figure 8 race. Next Saturday night, its Fan Appreciation Night with the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series action starting at 7:07 p.m. The 40th Annual National Short Track Championships Presented by Chicago International Truck takes place on September 22-25 at the Rockford Speedway.
