REYNOLDS JR. CAPTURES SIXTH WEEKLY FEATURE WIN By: Kevin Ramsell Saturday, July 30, 2005 (Loves Park, IL) - It was Christmas in July presented by RSC with a special visit from Santa Claus. Santa presented feature trophies to Jon Reynolds Jr., Brian Harder, Dan Carlson, and Ben Montemayor. Reynolds Jr. took home his sixth weekly feature win in the NASCAR Late Model division. Brett McCoy grabbed the lead at the start of the 30-lap feature event. Reynolds Jr. started on the outside of the second row and challenged the top spot on lap 13. The two raced side-by-side until Reynolds Jr. took over the top spot on lap 17. Ricky Bilderback moved to second. Bilderback did look on the inside for the top spot but with about 5 laps to go, Reynolds Jr. pulled away from Bilderback for the win. Bobby Wilberg came home third. McCoy and Jerry Gille rounded out the top five. Harder captured the 25-lap Budweiser American Short Tracker feature event. Harder grabbed the lead at the start of the event. Dave Wagner started fourth and quickly moved to second. The first caution flew on lap 3 when Steve Cavin made a hard contact with the turn three wall. He was done for the evening. The second caution flew on lap 10 when BJ Sparkman got into the back of Nick Cina Jr. causing Cina Jr. to spin in turns one and two. Lloyd Hawkins was also involved. Harder continued to lead on the re-start while Wagner got on the inside to challenge for the top spot. But Harder was able to hold off Wagner for the win. Aaron Rude, George Sparkman, and BJ Sparkman put on a great battle for the third position. Rude was able to hold off the brothers for third while BJ got fourth. Dave Lignell, the current point leader in the Coca Cola RoadRunner division, appeared to have blown an engine during the heat race. This allowed Dan Carlson the chance to make up his 16-point deficit and take over the top spot. Corey Teran grabbed the early lead in the 20-lap Coca Cola RoadRunner Feature event. Derek Nichol started on the outside of the second row and took over the top spot on lap 4. With 9 laps to go, Carlson worked his way from his eighth starting spot to challenge for the lead. Carlson got on the inside of Nichol and the two ran side-by-side until Carlson took over the spot on lap 14. Carlson would go on to the win with Nichol second. Teran would finish third while Dan Sander came home fourth. Carlson takes over the points lead in the RoadRunner division. He now has an 8-point lead over Lignell. Montemayor won the 13-lap Hornet Swarm. He grabbed the lead at the start of the event and was challenged by Steve Talley. The caution flew on lap 7 when Brian Mayer lost his wheel while on the chicane backstretch. On the re-start, Montemayor grabbed the lead back from Talley. Nick Lasher worked his way to second. Lasher tried to challenge for the top spot but Montemayor was able to hold him off for the win. This Wednesday night, its another Full Throttle Wednesday featuring the Grand Nationals, RoadRunners, Winged Women on Wheels, Figure 8's and Hornets. Plus, there will be a Burnout competition. Racing action begins at 7:07 p.m. Then next Saturday night, Finnegans RV presents the World Famous Figure 8 Trailer Race of Destruction. Plus, there will be full racing action with the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series and the FIRA cars.
