CARLSON GRABS INSIGHT MEDIA 30 AT ROCKFORD By: Kevin Ramsell Saturday, June 25, 2005 (Loves Park, IL) ? Ryan Carlson, BJ Sparkman, and Jason Powers captured feature wins on Insight Media Night at the Rockford Speedway. Ryan Carlson grabbed his second feature win of the year in the NASCAR Late Model division. Bill Hobson grabbed the early lead in the Insight Media 30-lap event. Carlson moved to second by lap 3. On lap 7, Ricky Bilderback got on the inside of Carlson to try to take over second. But, Carlson got on the inside of Hobson coming off of turn two. Carlson, who was in the middle of a Hobson/Bilderback sandwich, went down the backstretch with the lead. A lap later, Jerry Gille got loose in turn 3 and made hard contact with the wall. He was able to walk away. Carlson continued to lead at the re-start. But behind him, Bilderback was holding off Bobby Wilberg for second. The two track champions put on a great battle for the position. While that was going on, Carlson drove his way to the checkered flag. Bilderback would hold on toe second with Wilberg third. Jon Reynolds Jr and Hobson rounded out the top five. BJ Sparkman made another trip to victory lane in the Budweiser American Short Tracker division. Frank Bridges took the early lead. Dave Eggert got on the outside of Bridges and the two put on a great side-by-side battle until lap 11 when Bridges was blacked flag by NASCAR officials for not choosing a lane to race in. As he was given the black flag, Bridges slowed down and was hit in the rear by Don Russell. This caused Bridges to spin and caused a traffic jam in turns one and two. On the re-start, Eggert continued to lead. Sparkman battled with Russell for second and took over the position with 14 laps to go. With 8 laps to go, Sparkman got on the inside of Eggert to take over the top spot and go on to the checkered flag. Eggert came home second. Jason Evans, Dave Wagner and Russell rounded out the top five. Jason Powers held off a hard charging Ricky Nielsen to win the Coca Cola RoadRunner feature event. Powers took the lead at the start. The only caution in the event came on lap 7 when Michael Flood blew his motor going into turn one. Powers continued to lead at the re-start. Nielsen tried to get on the inside of Powers in the closing laps but was not able to as it was Powers to the checkers first. Michael Bilderback took home the feature win in the Legends division. Don Shall took the early lead in the 20-lap event. Don continued to lead until lap 9 when his son Ernie Shall took over the top spot. Bilderback started third and was challenging for the lead with five laps to go. With two laps to go, Bilderback used the outside line to get past Ernie Shall for the top spot. Ernie made one last attempt to get by Bilderback on the inside, but it was Bilderback at the line first by half a car length. Mike Cooter captured the 12-lap Bandolero feature. Cooter started on the outside and grabbed the lead. Kyle Lapier came home second with Brandon Allen a close third. Nick Beinlich won the 20-lap Allison Legacy feature event. Beinlich grabbed the lead at the start and led for the entire event. But he had to work on keeping that lead from Jimmy Hanson. Hanson did everything he could to get alongside Beinlich. But, Beinlich was able to hold off Hanson for the win. A total of 21 Supercup cars came to the green flag for their 25-lap feature event. Tom Miller took the early lead in the event. Miller held on to the top spot until Mike Benedict raced past him for the top spot. Benedict would go on to the take the win. This Wednesday night its another Full Throttle Wednesday with a Tough Truck Tug-A-Wars.
