MIS Press Release June 19, 2005 The Big Boom is this Friday Night at MIS by John Wells This Friday night at Madison International Speedway is "Big Boom 2005" presented by Gordie Boucher of Janesville. Fans will be treated to racing action in all four weekly divisions: Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models, Bryden Motors Super Late Models, Rockweiler Insulation Midwest Truck Series, and the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman. Can it get any better than that? Highlighting the racing events will be the Big Boom 75 for the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models. Point leader Bobby Wilberg of Orfordville leads a field of talented drivers in this second year series. "The Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models has quickly become one of the top weekly racing divisions in the midwest," said promoter Steve Einhaus. What about the booms? Thunder Cat Fireworks is back again in 2005 with the area's top fireworks show. For several years this group has thrilled fans of all ages with their incredible sky and ground displays. This year fans are asking how the "cats" from Thunder Cat can top last year's show. Be there on Friday night June 24 and find out. Gates open at 4:30 with hot laps at 4:45, qualifying at 6:30 and racing at 8:00. It's Miller Classic Time at MIS by John Wells Mark your calendars for Tuesday night June 28 when the Miller Classic returns to Madison International Speedway. The 2005 Miller Classic will be a super late model event with drivers expected from throughout the midwest. "I've already heard from several drivers in Minnesota who are planning on making the trip as well as the best from Wisconsin and Illinois," said promoter Steve Einhaus. Some very familiar names will also be returning to race at MIS. NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Scott Wimmer of Wausau, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers Ted Musgrave and Todd Kluever along with Rich Bickle Jr. and Chris Wimmer will all be racing at "The Classic." The Classic will be a 150 lap race split into two seventy-five lap segments. After the first segment there will be a ten minute break with drivers able to work on their cars before completing the second leg of the race. "We will roll a die to determine the invert for the top six after the first seventy-five," noted Einhaus. The winner of the first segment will receive a $500.00 bonus. In addition to the super late models, the Big Eight Limited Late Model Series will be making its first-ever appearance at MIS. "We are expecting a large field of limited lates for the Classic," added Einhaus. The Big Eight Series will be running a thrity-eight lap feature which will also feature some very well known names. NASCAR drivers Johnny and Tim Sauter will both be piloting cars in the Big Eight Limited Late Model event. MIS will again offer a VIP ticket program that will include a VIP dinner with the champions, VIP parking, a VIP question and answer session, autograph signing, and grandstand admission all for $100.00. Tickets will be limited and can be purchased at the main ticket office or by calling 608.835.9700. Pit gates on the 28th will open at 10:00 AM with practice to begin at 1:00 PM for the super late models. Qualifying begins at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:30 PM. Entry forms for the Miller Classic will be available by June 5th online, via email or by direct mail.
