OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE ROCKFORD SPEEDWAY Contact: Kevin Ramsell (kmrpr17@charter.net) REYNOLDS MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW AT ROCKFORD By: Kevin Ramsell Saturday, June 04, 2005 (Loves Park, IL) - The fans saw some great racing from all three divisions on Parent Petroleum/Turbo Blue Racing fuel night at the Rockford Speedway. Jon Reynolds Jr made it two in a row in the NASCAR Late Models division. Chris Purdy started on the pole and took the early lead. On lap 5, Purdy got loose in turn two. This allowed Hobson to get on the inside of Purdy to take over the top spot. Reynolds started ninth and quickly worked his way to the front. By lap 12 he was up to third place. On lap 16, Reynolds got past Jerry Gille for second. Three laps later, he got on the inside of Hobson to take over the top spot. Ricky Bilderback worked his way from his eighth starting spot to second, but ran out of laps in his attempt to catch Reynolds. Bobby Wilberg finished third while Gille and Hobson rounded out the top five. "Man this is great, I never thought I would ever win two features in a row...this is great!!!" A happy Reynolds stated in victory lane. Dan Carlson made another visit to victory lane in the Coca Cola RoadRunner division. Steve Hillary took the early lead in the 20-lap feature event. Carlson started in the ninth position and by lap 8 was up to 2nd place. A lap later, Carlson got on the inside Hillary. The two battled side by side until lap 17 when Carlson took over the top spot. Gene Marocco started sixth and got in the battle with Carlson and Hillary in the closing laps. The only caution came on lap 17 when David Long blew his motor. At the re-start, Carlson broke out to a huge lead over Marocco for the win. Dave Lignell came home third and Chad Lounsbury was fourth. Hillary ended up fifth. BJ Sparkman paid another visit to victory lane in the Budweiser American Short Tracker division. Brian Harder took the early lead in the 25-lap main event. Current points leader, Don Russell quickly moved from his fourth starting spot to the lead by lap 6. The only caution came on lap 8 when Jack Atchison and Tim Steger made contact coming out of turn four causing Atchison to spin. As the field lined up for the re-start, Sparkman was the first to take the inside line on the double file re-start. The move proved to work out for him. On lap 10, Sparkman moved to the inside of Russell. The two ran side-by-side for two laps until Sparkman took over the lead for good. Russell, who owns Sparkman?s car, came home second. Steve Cavin, Aaron Rude, and Jason Evans rounded out the top five. Full Throttle Wednesday start this week as SBC Yellow Pages Published by R.H. Donnelley presents Chamber Night at the Races featuring the Grand Nationals, Figure 8?s, Winged Women on Wheels, RoadRunners plus the RoadRunner Challenge. Plus, the Voo Doo Street Xtreme Motorcycles will be here. Next Saturday night, it?s a full NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series program along with the World Famous Trailer Race of Destruction.
