
Posted by Illiana Speedway on 5/5/2005, 11:44 am Schererville, IN - NASCAR Midwest Series division and Champion Auto Racing (CRA) tour driver Eddie Hoffman from Wheaton, IL will make his first appearance of the year this Saturday night May 7th at the Illiana Motor Speedway. Hoffman driving the Lisa Thomas Salon Chevrolet Monte Carlo is fresh off a 2nd place finish last week at the CRA series event in Mansfield, OH where the team owned by Tom Kmak plans to run for the series title. "This year were taking the races as they come and see how it goes" stated Kmak. "But right now our goal is to run for the CRA title and on free weekends compete locally." Dave Weltmeyer, from nearby Dyer, is the current point leader and is on a real hot streak with two feature wins in a row. The fans are sure to witness another classic battle between these two rivals as the last time they competed together Weltmeyer out dueled Hoffman to win the 44th Bettenhausen Memorial by about a car length Robbie Pyle, who last year competed on the American Speed Association circuit, will make his first ever Saturday night Start as he will be behind the wheel of the Phil Hines/John Brolick-prepared Monte Carlo to take on the Illiana Regulars. John Nutley the 2004 Illiana track Champion is also expected. Also on the Saturday night card, along with five divisions of racing, will be a special salute to all Mothers, where the first 200 Mom's entering the main grandstand gate will receive a free carnation courtesy of the Illiana Motor Speedway and 6 lucky mothers will be drawn for rides in the beautiful Gibson Chevrolet pace truck supplied by Gibson Chevrolet of South Holland, IL. IIliana Motor Speedway is located on US 30 2 ½ mi east of US 41 in Schererville, IN.
