The Friday Night Tradition Returns to MIS
by John Wells
Oregon, WI (May 3, 2005)
The Friday night tradition returns to Wisconsin's Track of Champions this Friday night when action begins in all four weekly divisions.
Dale Nottestad of Cambridge, Wisconsin, is set to defend his title in the Bryden Motors Super Late Model division. However, a very competitive field is lining up to make a run for the title in 2005. "Fans are going to see some very familiar names racing with us weekly in the super late model division in 2005," said promoter Steve Einhaus.
A new champion will be crowned in the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Model division in 2005 as past champion Ron Breese Jr. of Dekalb, Illinois, will not be racing at MIS in 2005. "The interest in the ASA Late Models is very high. Several long-time competitors such as Ryan Hanson and Nathan Haseleu have joined the field this season. This division will just keep getting better and better," noted Einhaus.
The Rockweiler Insulation Midwest Truck Series will take on a new look in 2005 as the Mid American Super Trucks join forces. "This will allow trucks from both series to compete with one another both at MIS and at Mid Am events," said Einhaus. Defending champion in the Midwest Truck Series is Scott Bleecker of Madison.
New to MIS in 2005 is the Bryden Motors Area Sportsman division featuring rules matching the "Jefferson" sportsman division. "We met with these guys during the off season and they wanted to follow the Jefferson rules. We are excited to have them racing with us weekly," said Einhaus.
This Friday night will be Bogey's Family Fun Park Night with a coin drop at intermission for the children. All children eleven and under always get free admission at Madison International Speedway. Gates open at 4:30 with hot laps at 5:15. Qualifying begins at 6:30 with racing at 8:00 PM. Madison International Speedway is located between Oregon and Stoughton, Wisconsin, off of Hwy 138.
