Posted by Madison Speedway on 5/2/2005, 12:39 pm Oregon (WI) - As a result of the combination of cold temperatures and a mixed bag of precipitation it was Mother Nature coming home with the checkered flag at the season opener at Madison International Speedway. The adverse weather conditions forced the cancellation of the first-ever visit by the Wisconsin Challenge Series and Big Eight Limited Late Model Series. "We have been planning for this race for many months and are disappointed the weather did not cooperate," said MIS promoter Steve Einhaus. "We are going to do everything possible to put this show together to be run at a later date," he added. Officials from the Wisconsin Challenge Series, Big Eight Limited Late Model Series, and MIS officials will be meeting to discuss a new date for the event. Friday night racing action returns to Madison International Speedway in 2005 this coming Friday night (May 6) with the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models, Bryden Motors Super Late Models, Rockweiler Insulation Midwest Trucks, and Bryden Motors Area Sportsman divisions all taking to the track. Gates open at 5:00 with qualifying at 6:30 and racing at 8:00 PM.
