Posted by Trgovich Racing Team on 4/5/2005, 1:30 am Trgovich has installed a new Ford crate engine into his Ford Taurus, which Kalwasinski will wheel during the 2005 season at the half-mile paved raceway. The Ford-powered entry, wrenched by crew chief John Sanino of Schererville and sponsored by attorney Stan Jablonski, will be unique among Illiana's roster of competitors. "I think it's the only Ford running at Illiana, said Kalwasinski, who began racing stock cars at Illiana in 2000. "It will be a good piece. It seems that the Ford (engine) has a lot more torque off the corners than our old Chevy engine had. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. I think the division (limited late models) is going to be pretty competitive with a lot of new cars and drivers." Kalwasinski, who now call Dyer home, drove Trgovich's black No. 11 to five feature wins in the limited late model class last year at Illiana with the 31 year old driver finishing third in the final points tally even after missing one race night in 04. Trgovich, 80, of Highland, got the "bug" to get back into racing a few years ago after being absent from the sport for over 40 years. Trgovich was considered one of the front runners during the early years of Illiana when racing was conducted on a dirt surface. Trgovich was among Illiana's "Big Seven" drivers in 1952 with feature wins at the speedway dating back to 1950. Illiana is set to begin its 2005 season on Saturday evening, April 16.
