BIG 8 TO DEBUT AT ROCKFORD
By: Kevin Ramsell
Wednesday, March 09, 2005 (Rockford, IL) – The Big 8 Limited Late Model Series will make its full season debut at the 28th Annual Spring Classic at Rockford Speedway. The series will be headlining the Saturday night program of the two day event on April 2-3, 2005.
The Big 8 Limited Late Model Series was organized by Rockford Speedway General Manager Gregg McKarns. “The Big 8 Series concept is to bring the top drivers from around the region to one location and put on a great racing show”, McKarns stated. “We want to keep it simple, great racing is what we are promoting.”
The Limited Late Model car is a less expensive version of the popular Super Late model. McKarns adds, “This type of Late Model is gaining popularity and I have always felt that these drivers are top notch. The racing is competitive, as a fan or driver what more can you ask for?”
The field will consist of 24 cars with the top 14 in qualifying automatically gaining a spot in the feature. The feature will pay $150 to start and $1,000 to win.
The 28th Annual Spring Classic will also be featuring the NASCAR Autozone Midwest Series, Mid-American Series, and the Northern Late Models. Racing on Saturday, April 2, 2005 will begin at 7:07 p.m. with the highlight being a 58-lap feature for the Big 8 Series. The racing program on Sunday April 3, 2005 will begin at 1:00 p.m.
