Posted by ASA Late Model Series on 2/21/2005, 12:05 pm Lexington, MI. -- For the first time, the ASA Late Model Series will visit the .50-mile Illiana Motor Speedway in Northwestern Indiana for the CITGO/MDA 100 on Saturday, June 4, 2005. The event is one of five events to be run in the Hoosier State. ”We pushed real hard to make this date happen, our fans, drivers and sponsors wanted a race at Illiana. With its close proximity to Chicago, it is a great opportunity for the ASA Late Model Series to showcase the great talent we have racing with us,” commented series President Ron Varney. “I felt this would be a great way to help mend some fences with CITGO, who have been a tremendous supporter to our race teams in the past. We plan on having both Stephen Leicht and Robbie Pyle compete in this event, and are definitely looking forward to this race.” stated Tom Gleitsman co-owner of WalTom Racing. “ASA has had such a great history at Illiana, I was thrilled that we could work out all the details to bring the ASA Late Model Series in to continue the ASA tradition. This should be one of the best fields and races all year,” commented Illiana Promoter Mike Mikuly. The ASA Late Model Series, CITGO and WalTom Racing will be working together on several MDA fundraisers throughout the 2005 season.
