Madison International Speedway Press Release October 19, 2004 MIS Adds Area Sportsman Division for 2005 Midwest/Mid American Trucks Join Forces Steve Einhaus, promoter of Madison International Speedway, announced today that there will now be four weekly racing divisions at Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile. Einhaus announced at an informational meeting held in Stoughton on Monday night that the Area Sportsman will be racing weekly at MIS in 2005. The Area Sportsman join the ASA Late Models, Super Late Models, and Midwest / Mid AM truck series on the weekly program. Following a discussion with technical staff from MIS and the drivers in attendance it was determined that the division will closely follow the Jefferson rulebook. Over twenty-five drivers were on hand to voice their support for the Sportsman division. It was also announced that the Mid-American Super Truck Series and the Midwest Truck Series will have a common set of rules thus allowing trucks in both series to compete with one another. "This will greatly increase our truck count on Friday nights and at the same time provide increased exposure for the Midwest Trucks at the Mid-American events throughout the upper midwest," commented Einhaus. Einhaus also informed the group of the Triple Crown Series for both Mid-Am/Midwest Trucks and Mid-American cars that will be held at Madison in 2005. "This will be a special three race series for the trucks. It's kind of like a series within a series as special bonus awards will be presented to the overall top finishers," added Einhaus. "We are very excited about everything happening with the trucks at MIS for 2005." In other news, it was also recently announced that the Hooters Pro Cup Series will make its first ever Wisconsin visit when they invade MIS on September 9. "We are very happy to have been able to work out an arrangement with the Hooters series. I know fans will really enjoy the racing this series offers," noted Einhaus. Opening day for the 2005 season will be on Sunday, May 1, when the Wisconsin Challenge Series comes to MIS. Weekly racing action returns to Friday nights in 2005 with the Friday night opener set for May 6.
