Michael Todd Ross, 40 died Sunday September 12 at Lutheran Hospital after a valiant ten month battle with lung cancer. He was born in Decatur IN on Oct 30, 1963 and was a self-employed auto and truck mechanic, welder and fabricator. He owned and drove Mini-Stock car #41 at Angola, Fort Wayne, Kalamazoo and other Midwest race tracks and won many races. He received his auctioneer’s license at age 17 from the Reppert Auctioneering School and was a graduate of Wayne High School. Michael is survived by his mother Karen Cauble Ross Baszczak, father Lanny W. Ross both of Fort Wayne; sister, Sherri Ross of Markle Indiana; brother, Dean Ross and family of Canton Ohio; and nephew Joseph Ross of Fort Wayne. Also surviving is his stepmother, Rebecca Ross, and stepsiblings Shane and Gage Benson and their families of Fort Wayne and Meredith Benson of Arlington VA. Visitation will be Tuesday September 14 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Elsey Patterson Rudak Funeral Home, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne 46809. There will be a brief graveside service, Wednesday September 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Decatur IN Cemetery.
