GET READY FOR THE 59TH SEASON OF RACING!!! By: Kevin Ramsell Wednesday, February 01, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) - Rockford Speedway Officials have released the 2006 racing schedule. The 59th season of racing will open on April 1-2 with the 29th Annual Spring Classic. "2006 will be a successful season and I know I can hardly wait for April 1 to be here," Rockford Speedway General Manager, Gregg McKarns stated. The sounds of engines flying around the high-banked quarter-mile oval will start on Saturday, March 25 with Open Practice and Media Day. The track will also be open on Friday, March 31st for practice for all Spring Classic divisions from 5-9 p.m. The Spring Classic will feature three great series over two days on April 1-2. The Wisconsin Challenge Series will make their first ever appearance to the famed facility. It will also mark their first race outside of the Badger State. The Mid-American Series will also be competing along with the Big 8 Series. The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series season will kick-off on Saturday, April 8th with the NASCAR Late Models, Grand Nationals, American Short Trackers and RoadRunner divisions competing. The Easter Bunny will be taking a back seat on Saturday, April 15th, as the Speedway will host its first Thrill Show of the season. Friday Night Fright will take place on Friday, May 26th while the World Famous Trailer Race will happen on Saturday, June 10th. The first of ten Wednesday night races start on June 14th with Chamber Night at the Races. The popular "Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" along with fireworks caps off a great night of racing action on Tuesday, July 4th. Doug Rose will make his annual appearance in his Green Mamba Jet Car as part of a Mid-Summer’s Night Scream on Saturday, July 8th. While the World Famous Figure 8 Trailer Race will take place on Saturday, August 5th. The Season Champions will be crowned on Saturday, September 2nd in the NASCAR Late Models, American Short Trackers, and RoadRunner divisions. Champions will be crowned in the Grand National and Figure 8 divisions on Monday Funday on September 4th. Doug Noelke will bring his Big Dawg Monster Truck to participate in a Night of Thrills on Saturday, September 9th. The 40th Annual National Short Track Championships will take place on September 22-24. And the 15th Annual Bahama Bracket Nationals will take over the Rockford Speedway on October 14-15th. The 59th season will end on Sunday, October 22nd with the Goblin 250 Enduro and Demo Derby. The full 2006 schedule is available on the track’s website at www.rockfordspeedway.com.
