BIG 8 ANNOUNCES ITS 2006 SCHEDULE By: Kevin Ramsell Tuesday, January 24, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) - Big 8 Series Officials has released it tentative 2006 schedule. So far, seven of the nine dates have been confirmed. The 2006 season will open on Saturday night, April 1st at the 29th Annual Spring Classic at the Rockford Speedway. The Big 8 Series will highlight the first day of the two-day event with a 58-lap feature event. Big 8 Officials are working on a race in May that will be announced at a later date. On Tuesday, June 27th, the Big 8 Series will challenge the new quarter-mile oval at Madison International Speedway. The Series will be running in support of the RK Race Promotions First Supply All-Star Challenge. The Madison Late Model division will also be competing that night with NASCAR stars Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart. Advance ticket information can be found at www.mattkenseth.com. The Series will make its second appearance at the Rockford Speedway on Monday, July 3rd with a 76-lap main event. A date in August will also be announced at a later date. The final four events will take place in a four week span starting on September 15-16th as the Series marks its return visit to the Jefferson Speedway for the Pepsi State Championships. The highlight will be a twin 50-lap event. Then it’s off to Rockford Speedway for the third visit on Saturday, September 23rd for the 40th Annual National Short Track Championships. On September 30th and October 1st, the Big 8 Series will return to Lake Geneva Raceway to compete in the October Classic. The Big 8 Series will then travel to La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway and will headline the Thursday night action of Oktoberfest on October 5th. Last season, 111 drivers competed in the Big 8 Series with an average of 40 drivers per event.
