Posted by Nevena on 29/3/2007, 11:18 am It was lovely to talk to you. Let me introduce myself: my name is Nevena Gilbert. I am Bulgarian (and British). I lived in London for ten years: first I did an MA in Classics and Archaeology, then a PhD in Classical Archaeology and then I got married. Then my husband (Giles) and I got a wonderful little boy (who is now four). And then I discovered Reiki and our lives changed incredibly. I had thought I had done enough studying in one lifetime, but it seems like everything I had learnt was just the foundation. Anyway, we found the stress of London living too much to bear and decided to move. Incidentally, I have an aunt who lives in a tiny village in very picturesque surroundings in the Czech Republic. We bought a very old (not to say dilapidated) house there and slowly the idea of moving there sprung to life. To cut the story short, we've been living here since last July. My husband teaches English and I am a housewife. As far as my Reiki experience is concerned, I did Reiki I almost by I practiced on myself religiously every day for over a month and could feel the energy going stronger and stronger. I have a friend who suffers from MS, so I gave him Reiki once a week for ten weeks. At the beginning the improvement in his physical condition was quite astonishing, later on he was very happy to have the "treatments" because they gave him inner peace and relaxation. In the beginning my husband was politely 'not-interested' (his brother is a very mainstream medical doctor and his mom is a pharmacist). Until one day he felt very ill and asked if I could give him some Reiki. It was quite a powerful experience. He seems to be very sensitive to the energy (and he also immediately connected to his guides and some angels). It was quite a shock for both of us. Well, he is converted now. He also seems to have'caught' the Reiki from me, because now he gives me "healings" every now and then. I didn't think I would go any further than just giving Reiki to friends and family (our little boy Vasko loves it!) until I felt compelled to do the next degree. So I did Reiki II with Joylina Goodings in Essex. You asked me why I wasn't doing the Master/Teacher with my previous teacher. I am not quite sure how to answer this question. It feels to me like I have taken from each teacher what I had to and need to move on (although Joylina is a very good teacher). I did the Master course here in the Czech Republic again on impulse. I was just looking for some 'Reiki people' to talk to. We have now set up a monthly seminar and I can meet more like-minded people. Doing the Master course has changed my views on Reiki considerably. It's strange how it happened overnight. Previously I was convinced I was going to be a practitioner helping people with their ailments (of any sort). Now I realise that Reiki is a way of spiritual growth. And it is so much better teaching people how to help themselves. (A bit like the Oxfam "give you grandma a goat for Christmas" campaign). And I am a teacher by heart and by nature(and by profession). I have started attending some yoga classes here which have also steered my thoughts in those lines. You may have heard of the'Yoga in daily life' system? Just a few words about how I 'do' Reiki. I am very intuitive in my I have booked my flight and will be transferring the fee to your account Sorry, I have to go - the little one has woken up. If you have any questions, please write. All the best, Nevena
Dear Rifa,
accident. I had enrolled in a silk-painting course in an Adult Education Centre and (uncharacteristically) missed the date! So they let me re-enroll for something else. I had heard of Reiki (my brother had practiced it on me ages ago) and as there was nothing else I was interested in, I decided to give it a go. I was under the misapprehension it was just an introduction of the topic. Two days later, I was attuned and giving Reiki to myself!
approach. I just let my hands (and breath and body) do the work. I am quite aware of my guides - they seem to change depending on what needs to be done. Some are very matter-of-fact. Some have quite humorous nature. Sometimes I 'hear',sometimes I 'see', sometimes I 'smell', quite often I just 'know'. Once I 'brought over' someone's grandparents. I hope that doesn't happen again.
shortly.
