Was at a lifeguard competition on Coney beach today. The comp was attended by clubs from all along the coast and would have made a good advert for our beaches BUT The beach was absolutely disgusting. Rubbish from empty bottles thru used condoms to syringes. One of the bins had been torched and had melted spilling what was left of its contents over the beach. None of the bins had been emptied for days. There were broken bottles etc. all over the place. I witnessed representatives from all the visiting clubs comment on how unsafe and dirty the beach was and they would think twice about next year. I FELT ASHAMED TO BE LOCAL. The most popular comment was "Our beach is dragged by a council tractor every morning. Why isn't this one". So come on Porthcawl Town & Bridgend County Councillors What the Hell are we paying for!!!
