I’m so sorry you have to go through this, it just plain sucks and so does your Oncologist, who needs that negativity?!
As Kelly pointed out, Get a NEW Onco ASAP! No one has an expiration date NO ONE! Zoe on this board was DX Stage 4 over 20 years ago, that’s right! 20!! Do not listen to that garbage.
It’s 2012 and BC is now treated as a chronic condition such as diabetes etc, there are many many tools in the Breast cancer arsenal for mets and slowly or stopping progression altogether and putting your cancer in remission, it happens everyday just ask the 4 MILLION BC survivors walking this earth.
Unfortunately as a society we tend to focus on the negative, BUT not here on this board, we will tell you about all the great stories of survivors many 20 or more years out. Perhaps if they had listened to their original Onco if he were like yours, they wouldn’t be here? BUT they decided that NOONE has the right to say that.
Maybe this Onco isn’t UP to working a little bit or RE-Educating himself on BC and what is available for treatments in 2012, I’m sure some ladies here could tell him a thing or 2!
LOL. Keep going until you find the right doctor. We all deserve HOPE and noone can take that from us. Our doctors are there to encourage us and make us well and fight “with us ” just as hard as we do and if they are not , well, in my opinion they are NOT doing their job.
Please remember we are all a statistic of ONE. You need to get to the right doctor ASAP even if it is 20 hours away, youre children will understand, they want you around for a long time too! and it WILL save your life and make all the difference in the world to you and your attitude, a positive outlook helps a lot. Look for a large /research cancer hospital as they are on the cutting edge of treatments AND offer trials as well. I’m not familiar with Vanderbilt, I’m on the East Coast NJ so here its all about Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC.
DO NOT give up 5 minutes before the miracle happens, in 2 weeks, months or years there may be a CURE for all of us? Ya just never know? Get his words out of your head NOW because that can only do you harm and you my dear aren’t going anywhere, anytime soon!
Enjoy Life, LIVE it to the fullest without thinking about what “may or MAY NOT” ever happen, if you don’t then what’s the point, really?
You’ll look back 10,15 or 20 years later and say sheesh I wasted all the time worrying when I should have been enjoying LIFE!
One must not tie a ship to a single anchor, nor life to a single hope."
