Jennifer,
Anyone with your Dr. would be scared out of her mind, but there is hope! and hope for much more than 5 years!! A second opinion from Vanderbilt is a great start, but I think you also need a new local Onc. There are many treatments to try, and putting any "maximum" on your survival was extremely inappropriate.
I know you said your estrogen levels are high so I think you should consider having your ovaries removed. It gets you off of the Zoladex and makes you eligible for Faslodex (another estrogen blocker that is not for pre-menopausal women). Something to consider. I had mine removed as part of my treatment for stage III;and while I am now stage IV, it took 12 years to come back (or at least get noticed). I had a great surgeon and was out to dinner two days later (you should probably talk to other women as my experience may not be the norm).
You will definately find support here so ask any questions - someone will likely know the answer!
