Hi Goldia,
I was thinking about you the other day and wondering if you had started treatment. You are in my prayers for a good (no GREAT) response to these new drugs. Xgeva is what I would call a "target drug" that will target the cancer cells and leave the other cells intact. It is a monoclonal antibody much in the manner that Herceptin works. It is used to prevent fractures in bones that have had metastasis of cancer.
Ixempra works by attacking the cancer cells by an intracellular route..that is the drug gets into the cell and destroys the route mechanism of the cancer cell activity. Cancer cells are great at changing their "colors" but our research is catching up and finding ways to "thwap" the nasty activity of cancer cells not only from outside the cells but also from inside the cells. Goldia it is so amazing to me the work and track record to date that has gone into these newer drugs. I am sorry that I can only give you the info on how the drugs work but I am sure that one of the ladies who are receiving the treatments with these meds will hop on. Please hop on again and let me know how you are doing.
Big hugs,
Peg
PS Are you on chat here evenings?
