Good Point Kelly
I guess true? Lets see my Onco told me I can be cured, this is how she explained it. The cancer was only in my Right Breast, she removed it therefore she removed the cancer, so the tricky part, IF I do not have a recur in 5 years then she said I will be considered CURED, as with Triple Negative BC you get a recur usually sooner rather then later, so 5 years is the Mark!
She cannot say Im cured yet b/c even though I did chemo to try and insure no leftovers or floaters hanging around that want to set up shop someone that would zap them when they are so microscopic as to not have time to cause any damage.
But again with no node involvement maybe nothing did escape and I did chemo for notta??
So cured? I dont know yet, I'll let you know in 5 yrs, I want to beleive that after 5yrs I will br cured but we all know if you had cancer once it increases your chances to develop a secondary cancer even if it isnt Breast, Ovary etc etc So we must be extra careful forever!
As you know I was Stage 1, my doc did said that ONLY Stage 1 can be CURED (no node), thats why she gave me chemo, she said you only get 1 chance to cure this and you gotta dothe chemo because there is no node involvement, BUT that doesnt mean that you can't be in remission for years and maybe just never have another occurance, ya never know? I'm pretty sure only if its metastic that is when its always going to be an ongoing treatment to keep it under control and it can be controlled Kelly , there are 1000's of woman with Mets and Stage 4 5-10-20 yrs out so it can be controlled apparently?
There is just so much STUFF to fight BC with and that is a good good thing
No matter what Stage you are!!!
Anyhow, thats my understanding?
Cured / Treatable ?? Does it really matter Cured and Treatable are both GOOD THINGS, given the alternatives
?
