Hi all
Story--7 and 1/2 year stage III IDC to the left breast, lumpectomy followed by a mastectomy 6 rounds of FEC and 32 rads. Finally decided to do recon started in Jan 08 had complications.
Had implant put in Feb 09.
August 09 funky mammo followed by funky ultrasound, and MRI. Had a MRI guided biopsy on 9/9/09 came back atypical lobular hyperplasia.
Surgeon says lets watch again in 6 months.
Scheduled genetic consult with oncologist for Oct 20. Supposed to have lift to this breast in November. If test comes back positive, I am considering having a mastecomy with immediate recon.
Surgeon called me today to tell me that many surgeons are now wanted to take a wider biopsy of the area where the hyperplasia was found.
So for now I have to put the plastic surgeon on hold. The general surgeon on hold until the test results.
But my question is, finally, has anyone else had this happen to them.
It is not cancer yet but my risk has just been increased for another cancer..
Anything anyone can tell me would be greatly appreciated.
Still making up my mind.
