Carol,
I had a lumpectomy in 7/06 followed by another one to get clear margins. I did 6 rounds of CAF and 35 raads. I finished up in 3/07.
In 1/08 my mammogram found a tumor in almost the exact same spot. Both times were triple negative. They did not know if it was a recurrence or a new primary. I opted for a bilateral mast. which was done 2/08 followed by 6 rounds of chemo. I did 3 rounds of Taxol and Gemzitabine which I didn't tolerate well. I was barely rebounding inbetween rounds. I then did 3 rounds of Abraxane which I did very well on.
I hated losing my hair again and I think that was the worst for me. But to your question--yes, I think you are headed to chemoland. It is the best defense for triple negative cancer. Better safe than sorry, right? Take care, Love Debbie
