I just found out I carry the BRAC2 gene mutation. I was diagnosed in Jan. with stage IIB BC, have had 4 rounds of A/C and half way through 12 of taxor. I am supposed to have surgery after the taxor tm is finished. I was supposed to have a lumpectomy but now my oncologist recommends a double masectomy. My surgeon is still saying lumpectomy. Both agree I should have my ovaries removed. Has anyone had a lumpectomy after finding out you have BRCA2 gene? Does having a masectomy make a difference in recurrence? I am not sure of what to do since my doctors don't agree.... Thanks so much for your help. You are all amazing women.
