I've been reading this site for a month or so, LOVE the positive feedback out there, you're a wonderful, supportive group of SURVIVORS!
Anyway, wanted to reply to karens as I'm in the same situation, recurrence at stage IV with lesions in several spinal vertebrae, thigh and pelvis, liver, lymph nodes in abdomen - all this diagnosed in August 2007. I started out on Aredia/Avastin/Xeloda, which worked for about a year, everything seemed to be 'dormant', no progression, then started to feel something was wrong, a few aches & pains returning.
CT showed progression in liver, plus new tumors pressing on bladder some fluid in one lung, so switched to Aredia/Avastin/Abraxane, which I've been on since November 2008. Just had another CT of abdomen/pelvis, a full body bone scan and chest X-Ray, all of which show no further progression, and my blood tumor marker has been going down, so party time here for the moment
So anyway, my message is stay positive, I have 4 teenagers, I promised them I'd live to be 100 (take that, cancer!!), I'm still alive and kicking after 20 months so that's a good start. I'm English but living in Texas, play tennis a couple times a week or more, the exercise, friendships and laughter (and yes, crying too) help a lot.
