CA27-29 levels should remain as close to zero as possible. Some docs don't even do tumor marker tests. My old doc never did them, my new doc does. I think I prefer my old doc's way better.
There are a lot of things that can influence the numbers, but they are basically trying to establish a trend.
Your daughters should definitely be watching their breasts closely. Self exams are good for younger women, as are MRI's or ultrasounds as Lyn suggested.
I was diagnosed at 35, so I had never had a mammogram. A mammogram did detect my cancer, but only after I had accidentally found the lump myself. And this is with no family history such as yours.
You could always have the BRCA test if you want to spare your girls having to have the test and the expense.
