I'm so glad I found you folks. I was dx IBC HER2+, ER- in April 2008. Been in wide-eyed survival mode since. I had 13 rounds of chemo that was cut short by 3 rounds due to side effects. I had every side effect from Taxol that one could possibly have. Instead of putting me in the hospital for the remaining three my onc sent me straight to surgery. I had a modified radical mastectomy on Sept. 22, 2008. Pathology report was excellent. All 13 lymph nodes and breast tissue tested NEGATIVE. Before treatment started my Cat scan showed no mast. In the beginning my onc said I was between stage II and III since they couldn't be sure about lymph node involvment at the time. When I went to my family doctor redness was visible and I had a large lump. I think it was 6cm. My surgeon said I stage T 4. I thought I was surely doomed but so far so good. It was hell but chemo cleared the cancer in my breast and there is no inidication that it spread anywhere else.
I start RAD on Monday for 6 1/2 weeks everyday and will be on Herceptin every three weeks for the next year. I wonder if RAD hurts. I guess I'll find out.
I'll have a million questions for you guys and if anyone has questions for me, I've been there and will be happy to answer.
Sorry for the novel,
Joyce
