Hi there. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of and/or tried a product called essiac. Its a natural remedy to help with symptoms of cancer. http://www.essiac-canada.com/index.htm
This is the website I found when I was looking for alternative therapies for my mom who was just told that the chemo she has been on (taxotere/gemzar) for 6 months isn't working anymore. The dr's want to give her a break from chemo because the chemo isn't working and they don't want to change chemo's they said because they don't want mom to feel sick. They say they know the tumours in her lungs will continue to grow and spread while she is off chemo but that they want to wait until she has more symptoms before they try to treat it again. they said they want to preserve quality of life not quantity. We are left feeling perhaps this is a great opportunity to try non-traditional, non western medical therapies and look into alternatives. I've been doing a lot of reading and researching for the past several days and I've found information on Monavie as a superjuice filled with antioxidents that may make people feel better. No claims to getting rid of cancer of course, but rather as a combination of fruits that will boost ones energy and help build their immune system. I'm assuming that a strong immune system can't hurt and can only help. you can check out their website at www.monavie.com
The other thing I've looked into is hemp and whether hemp oil can help relieve pain and symptoms of cancer and I've come across these websites: http://www.thenhf.com/articles/articles_659/articles_659.htm
and
http://www.youtube.com/chrychek
I was just wondering if anyone else out there has tried or heard of any of these as options for their cancer treatment. I am finding that most oncologist here are so quick to put down any naturopathic or natural remedy that it is very hard to get a straight answer about what to try. Everything I've read on these 3 specific things is that it may provide some good (maybe it won't, but as long as it doesn't do any harm, then I think "what is there to lose") My mom has said many times since hearing the Dr say, last Friday, that she didnt' want to prescribe anything at this time, that she (mom) "wants something, she needs to try something to fight this cancer"
I appreciate all the information I get from you girls and if you have any imput into any of these I would love to hear it.
Thanks again
Deanna
